Students should use tonight to catch up on book group assignments, and for a few, the writing assignment from last week.

4th Grade Purple group

1. Finish JUMP area packet; make corrections from the first part of the packet.
2. Estimate area of your bedroom (one estimate of a square meter is from wrist to wrist when you reach your arms out).
3. Ten minute multiplication fact practice.

4th Grade Blue Group homework.

Fifth Grade Math: Fifth graders played Jeopardy today to review the geometry unit: polygons, angles, area, perimeter, similar figures, and the like. They have a 2-sided worksheet for homework and will do well to review the notes in their math notebooks for tomorrow's short assessment.

Fourth grade math
Purple group:
Our question was how to use half-squares to calculate the area of polygons. Students were reminded to use square units (often shown with superscripts) when calculating area.

Blue Group: The Blue Group began today finding the area of polygons using pattern blocks in unit measures, and are now beginning work with square centimeters. Students began with counting grid squares and are moving into measuring the perimeter of rectangles to determine the area inside, and to break up more complicated polygons into parts to determine the area.
