Today in Strawberry: We have had a pleasantly warm day back in the classroom. This morning we shared about our spring break. Each student wrote a sentence on a paper strip about their time away. The class guessed who it wrote it, and heard a bit more from each person. After math we read the next chapter in Bound for Oregon, then met the difficult task of finishing their budget and purchases for the wagon trail simulation. After lunch the wagon parties encountered the first trail decision and learned of their fate.

Part 1
Write about the process of packing the wagon and purchasing of
supplies. What things are you bringing?
How did you decide what to bring and
what to leave? Were there
any disagreements in your family about what to

What was the scene like in Independence? What were people doing
and what kinds of stores were there? What kinds of conversations
did you overhear?
