Save the Date! May 30

Save the Time & Date:  6:00-8:30, Thursday, May 30
Annual Strawberry Creek end of year performance of learning, and celebration of students.
The evening itinerary as it stands for now:
6:00 - 6:45 Family Potluck at the Strawberry Classroom
6:45 - 7:15 Performance in the Depot
7:15 - 7:30  Slide Show
7:30 - 8:00 Celebration of 5th graders moving up
8:00 - 8:30 (Flex time - in the event the student performance runs longer)

At this time, the plan is that students will not need to stay after school (as we did last year), but should arrive by 6:00. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to help set up and clean after the event.

This is a family event.

Homework Section
  • 4th Grade Math:  Long Division pages (students chose 1 of the 4 to take home).  Long Division help page.
  • 5th Grade Math: packet
  • Oregon Trail Journal Assignment:  Finish your Journal Entry: Mile 319, May 7, 1845. Write a letter to a friend or family member back home. Include highlights from the trip so far. Draw a sketch of one of your favorite moments.
  • Wordly Wise:  This week, students have set goals in Wordly Wise, and should spend some time each night working toward that goal (however, priority tonight goes to the journal).  They will also have more time in class, and should bring the book to school each day.
  • Reading:  Bound for Oregon   A number of students need to finish reading chapters 9 and 10.  In class today we started chapter 10 as a class.  Just like on the trail, stragglers need to catch up!  Use your 20 minutes reading time to do so.

Today on the Oregon Trail:  Each student began an expenditure ledger to keep track of losses and gains, while tracking their groups' balance.  Teams had an opportunity to restock their wagons, of which few groups took advantage.  We will see how it goes on the trail.
