The evening itinerary as it stands for now:
6:00 - 6:45 Family Potluck at the Strawberry Classroom
6:45 - 7:15 Performance in the Depot
7:15 - 7:30 Slide Show
7:30 - 8:00 Celebration of 5th graders moving up
8:00 - 8:30 (Flex time - in the event the student performance runs longer)
At this time, the plan is that students will not need to stay after school (as we did last year), but should arrive by 6:00. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to help set up and clean after the event.
This is a family event.
Today in Strawberry
On Thursday we began our conversation about our end of year performance. The students shared ideas, then later in the day we watched Cerrito's dress rehearsal of their Oregon trail show. Today was step two for us. We met in small groups to develop more ideas and held a series of votes to help filter our choices. We had a range of creative and inspiring ideas from making the performance a game show, a musical, a movie, a number of short skits to a fully scripted play. The latter won out. Next week we will begin the next phase of outlining the play and beginning the script writing process. The kids are excited about finding ways to incorporate everyone's ideas into the play.
Bones: A highlight this morning was linking a tall tale read as part of the Oregon trail simulation about Hiram Scott's bones to an observation of animal skulls and bones in the classroom.
