We had an excellent outing to San Francisco and Mission Dolores. Our docent, Vincent (seen in the photos) was not only a terrific tour guide, he has a family link to the Mission. His great, great, great, great (and maybe one more great) grandparents were baptized and married as Catholics at the Mission about five years after its construction. They were Ohlone Indians from the bay area. Similar to our work in the classroom, Vincent maintained a thoughtful focus on the Ohlone and Mission Indian experience past and present, along with the historical perspective of the Spanish Mission system.
