5th Grade Math: Skills packet and homework packet due Wednesday
4th Grade Math: Place value packet, due Wednesday

2.  Science:  Create a Fish project.  Due Wednesday.  Students use the fish adaptation charts, along with their planning chart to draw an invented fish in its habitat.  Please color or use shading to finish your drawing.

3.   Reading (every night)– Read for at least 20 minutes each night.  

Field Trip Tomorrow!  We are headed to the Shorebird Nature Center at the Berkeley Marina for a training day about shoreline clean up.  This is our kick off to part of our service learning work this year.  We are walking to and from, and are happy to have adults join as chaperone and participant. We may use public transportation for our return trip.

First Friday Shared Snack!

Typo on Fort Ross Reminder sheet from Back to School Night:  Hard to believe after all the proof reading and date checking, but indeed there is a date typo.  The Dress Rehearsal for the students for Fort Ross is Wednesday, November 6, 8:45am  (the sheet says Wednesday Nov. 5th - which does not exist this year).

2.  Fort Ross homework, due Friday:  Read pages 242 through top of 244, and answer questions 12-18 including 18a & 18b (the questions are in your spiral notebook).  Then, write responses to Roman numeral questions V, VI, VII & VIII in your notebook.  The reading for this qualifies as part of your reading time too.

Today in Strawberry: This afternoon we met in small groups of 5 students and a teacher to follow up on our discussion from last week about teasing, bullying and friendship.  We had great conversations and will be compiling our notes to come back to the class with outcomes from the groups.  We had some parallel themes, and possible ideas for growth.

Today in Strawberry:  Ask your Strawberry about the Otter Games.  We played Otter jeopardy again in the classroom with the students, and they did marvelous.  At the end of the day we played an otter hunt simulation to connect to our study of Fort Ross and the impact of the Russian fur trade.

MAP - The testing process went much more smoothly today for the Reading and Language sections of the MAP test.  At the end of the day we debriefed about the testing.  The kids had quite a bit to say about it seeming either too difficult at some times, and easy at other times, and many were unsure if it was really adapting to them.
