Field Trip Thanks!

Reminders:

• Musical performance:  The class will be performing music on Friday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. at our end-of-year school assembly, and you are invited.  Please help your student remember to bring in any musical instruments students made in the Dresher music project on Monday, to stay at school all week.
• Paper bags:  Please remind your student to bring in a paper grocery bag to collect their work.  As we wind down the school year, we will clean up the classroom, since Steve & Kate's summer camp moves in Saturday, June 16.  Teachers will be looking at student work while writing progress reports, but you may pick up their portfolios and work after Wednesday, June 20.

• Add up the area of all the rooms and halls to find the total area of your house.
• Add up the sides of the house to find the perimeter of your house.
• Use the “Budget Update” information to figure out the total cost of your house, and how much money you have leftover.
• Complete paragraphs 2 and 3, rest of packet, and draft of floor plan.

Sutter's Fort & the State Capitol:  We had a great (hotter than we're used to) trip to Sacramento yesterday.  Thank yous go to our fearless driver/chaperones:  Thomas, Sophie, Grégoire, Beth, Don & Kate.  A special thanks to Charlotte's dad, Tom for meeting us at the Capitol and getting us into the Governor's office for a behind-the-scenes tour.  Jerry Brown happened not to be in, but we learned about an even more important member of the Governor's team named Sutter.  Nope, not John Augustus Sutter of Sutter's Fort, but the Governor's corgy.

The regular tour of the Capitol included a focus on secret "signatures" left behind by the artisans in the rebuilding process.  Some are pictured in the slide show.
